I have read a few different posts about how nothing is different, or not different enough. From face choices to armor looks, load times to not enough variety.

And I guess that it started to bum me out a little. I checked out the preview event today and yes you had to download some stuff to update it, but all in all It took me around 2-5 mins total depending on where I was going. But it was totally worth the wait. I got to check out some cool new spells and characters. I got to use some cool new henchmen. Explore a cool new continent. All for free.

I liked the faces of the character I built (Ritualist, Female). I thought it was cool that they went a little further with the face expressions (open mouths) and overall was impressed in general. Just good art, for me.

I haven't got to try the PvP stuff yet, but if it's half of what they said it was going to be then it should be good too.

I like the new dances. Really good job with them.

From a development standpoint Anet is getting better, more thought out design. And they were great before.

And for all the people that are upset cause they are only getting part of a game to play for the preview, well... What did you expect. How many other big name games have you downloaded a demo for that let you do everything? Personally I have always only gotten a couple levels or so per demo. That's what it's all about, something to entice you to purchase the game. Maybe if they called it a demo day instead of a preview it would make more sense to some people. hehe.

There will probably be some posts about this, if not already, but...There will most definately be some balancing issues to iron out. That's what comes with any PvP game, RPG or FPS or anything in between. It will be worked out.

The biggest bummer is that the majority of people that enjoy it are either playing it right now or don't usually come to the forums to report "good" experiences. I wouldn't be here either if I didn't catch a thread title that caught my eye on the main page. Hell, if I didn't have to work or travel to night I would be geeking out on the game right now. hehe.

Hope the ones that are disapointed right now will give it some more time before they make a decision. If not, well I hope you find what you're looking for. GW never has been and never will be for everyone. Niether will any other game.

Well, I like it. I can't wait to spend some real time with the new options for a character, I love what I have seen so far. I am excited to get into more of the story line. I can't wait to choose a side for faction Anet took it up a notch here and I can't wait to see what is to come.

Default Damn...

So I guess in the last hour not one single person that has viewed this has thought to say anything positive. hehe. Well I guess that's only 13 people anyways. hehe.

Well I guess I can't sign again. Hope we get some more positive stuff on here. Bump it if you want to keep this thread up here for others to post some positives even if you don't have some right now Helps anyways.

Thanks

Blown away by the new scenery- What fun to have new places to explore and new pets! And who can't enjoy fighting Yeti? I was just ambushed by Luxons rappelling or dropping down a cliff edge!

The Kurzick territory is a little dark for my tastes, so far I prefer the wide open seas, but have not gone too far yet. Going to work now, so I'll be back tonight and free for the weekend. I'm thinking my sleep is going to suffer.

I especially like the walk on water part. And the turtles are cool. For the most part have enjoyed my time in factions. Don't like the idea that it is so bias to PvP. I think we are in an area equal to Droks. It is a bit undaunting dealing with skills we haven't had any time to learn. I understand why they gave us this area but would liked a beginning area better. I'm looking forward to playing it.

Yes, I like what I saw. I posted a few nits, but that's all they are: nits. I'm impressed with how smoothly the event seems to be running, and I'm looking forward to the official release.

Loving it so far. Earning faction through PvE is perfect for me since I don't want to PvP The game is beautiful so far and I can not wait for the full version.

I agree with You 100% and i feel the same.

only down so far if any its that the damn Mage still casts Firestorm when they are all dead or about to die.

But i know its a preview, but maybe one of the best demos i ever played.

Thanks ANET

Default Nice...

Good posts. Thanks for contributing

Like the content of the posts. Good stuff. And some small nitpicks in there or "nits" (as felinette calls them, like it), which is good to get a little prospective from the other side.

Thanks again all

I like what I've seen of the new area and the henchies, weapons etc but after an hour or so and 4 quests I couln't see any point continuing with the preview stuff - I can't keep anything I find, have to re-do the quests anyway when Faction's comes out and most disappointingly anything I unlock/faction I gain, is totally useless to me as I couldn't use the account Faction's will be linked to (ie my main account) as no spare slot to try the new area out (got 4 PvE characters and no intention of deleting any of them).

Well, I didn't sign earlier, because I only was able to play for a few minutes this morning.

But looking at the screenshots posted, it's looking really nice, love the new weapons and pets posted.

About the face thing: Gaile Grey confirmed that the faces are not final, so expect more / better looking faces in final product.

Default Point taken...

I can definately see Pompeyfan's point. A lot of people might be missing out on the head start you could get this weekend cause they don't want to loose thier characters. I completely understand. My situation is a little tighter, as I also am sharing my account with a friend to give him a preview of the game right now. So I am one character slot less than most , but I really want to play the game from the start like most of you I'm sure. Again, I think this preview is just to wet our apetites. And for the more hardcore, I guess you could unlock a lot of stuff and get a jump start.

Thanks for the update on the Faces thing Mordakai, good to know

Good stuff, again Keep it up

I like everything except the clone skills. Those I tolerate because I think I can carry both the factions version and the prophecies version of a skill at the same time. Dont know what I'd do with two Dodges or Point Blank Shots though

Default Hmmm...

More good stuff. Thanks.

As far as the clone skills go, well.... I know it kinda seems lame, but if you think about it there are only so many things/spells/skills/hexes/etc. possible in a game with this many options for character class. And one thing I've noticed about the skill lists/trees for each class is that often you will find more than one way to "skin a cat" with each class. As in there are very similar, if not clone, spells/skills in each class pre-factions. Most of the time it is in a different tree. But mainly I think that it is this way not because they are running out of options for spells/skills, but more likely that they are giving you more options with each class. So if you're strength lies in a different attribute at least now you can have that other spell/skill that wasn't available before. So I guess I'm saying you get more options without having to be as diverse as before.

And if this isn't the intent or they are running out of new skill/spell options, then all I can say is hope it changes. But untill then as least there are a couple hundred skills/spells that aren't clones, and that still makes for a huge amount of possible variations

Thanks for all the input. I really like it It's good for us all
